Eastern Bluebird
Sialia sialis
I get asked quite frequently to paint birds. This past winter, after putting up a feeder in view of a large pitcher window, I gained enough time viewing bird habits up-close I felt comfortable beginning work on a wider series of NC birds.
First up was the Eastern Bluebird. This frequent visitor usually came in pairs or small groupings. A glimpse of that tell-tale rich royal blue made it easy to identify and fun to paint.
Here, the bird is seen standing briefly on the ground among early spring's Jacob's Ladder. Perhaps picking at some feeder seed that dropped or snatching an insect?
This original watercolor and ink painting could be yours!
